Q. How can I safely use the stilts?

A. We recommend that you wear a bicycle type helmet, wrist guards, elbow pads and knee pads. Use the stilts according to your fitness and skill level. Start to walk slowly and read our stilt Lessons page.

Q. Will I be able to do a backflip with the stilts?

A. If you can't do a back flip now then no you won't be able to do one on the stilts. Remember you will be higher off the ground so it is further to fall.

Q. How do I look after my stilts?

A. It is important to protect the springs. The springs may get nick marks in them which will weaken them.

The springs are made of fibreglass composite and any nicks are going to affect how long they last. Picture flexing a bundle of uncooked spaghetti. As the spaghetti strands get nicked and broken, the bundle gets weaker which causes more strands to break. Wrapping tape around the spring helps prevent nicks.

Hockey stick tape is a nice material tape that will protect your springs well and comes in a number of colours, electrical tape can also be used.

Q. How do I choose a unicycle?

A. The smaller wheel (16") is suitable for children or for adults who want to act like a clown. The 20" wheel is suitable for taller children and adults of all ages. This size is good for tricks. The 24" wheel is easier to pedal for those who want to go a longer distance or if you are tall.
